Llama Face

If you haven’t seen The Emperor’s New Groove then you probably don’t get what I mean when I say I have Llama Face. I’ll explain.

Basically the emperor lives his life by his groove. It’s his song, his dance, his joie de vivre. An evil lady tries to kill him but only winds up turning him into a llama. Llama Face is a way of saying woe is me.

So, whenever I feel like I’ve lost my groove, I have Llama Face. I’ve got some serious Llama Face right now.

I have very little free time on the weekends because I have King Ben, and he likes to keep me busy. This was a long weekend in the U.S. because Monday was a federal holiday to celebrate both Lincoln and Washington’s birthdays. President’s Day. So not only was it a weekend, but a three day weekend. On top of that, Saturday night, right after I got home from driving older daughter to work because it was raining, Ben came running out of the bedroom to the bathroom. I thought, Oh Great! I haven’t had a chance to go to sleep yet and he’s awake. It was worse than that. He sat on the toilet and exploded from both ends… Poor punkin! All over the bath mat. When he was done I had to strip him and get him in the shower because he didn’t quite make it in time. So, he’s shivering in the tub with a robe on, I’m trying to get the bath mat in a garbage bag without making a bigger mess, then bleach wiping the floor and toilet. I finally got him dressed and settled in bed, finished cleaning and went to get in his Mama’s bed with him. At 4:00am he wakes up saying “ouch ouch” and I hear a gurgling noise… Oh No! Yep! Back into the shower. Luckily I had put a towel under his booty so the bed wasn’t messed. After this shower he wanted to stay up. Of course he did, 4:30am is a perfect time to be awake… NOT! His mama got home around 7:00am and I went to lay down for a little while.

At 10:00am King Ben decided he was tired of his mama and it was time for Grandma to serve him again. So that’s what I did until his mama woke up at 3:00pm.

Then, I went to get a few things from the grocery store and pick up take out for older daughter. I had a list but still had to go back down some aisles a couple times. Next stop, take out. It was only as I was paying for the take out that I realized that I hadn’t gotten my change at the grocery store. DUH! I rarely pay with cash because I don’t carry that much cash, but younger had given me a one hundred dollar bill the night before, so I used that. My change was thirty two dollars. If it had been five, I might’ve said forget it. Thirty two though… Gah! I had to go back to the grocery store.

The poor cashier was very nice about it. I mean, he did forget to give me my change and I just walked right out of the store. I shouldn’t be unsupervised. He was having the same kind of day I was, because he first tried to give me sixty eight dollars, which was the total. I’m an honest person though, so I showed him on the receipt that I was owed thirty two. Finally, money in wallet, I went home. Of course I forgot something we needed and had to walk over to the corner market. Again, I showed my superior intelligence by looking at the sub-total and handing over cash. The cashier, who knows me since I’m there just about every day, looks at the cash in his hand and at me, waiting for more money. I’m still looking at the sub-total, thinking I miscounted and handed over another dollar. He’s still looking at me. It’s then that I realized I’d been looking at the wrong total and gave him another dollar. See… unsupervised… I went home and hid under my blankets.

So, today is Tuesday and I woke up at 3:30am (thanks Ben) thinking about the little yellow school bus and freedom. After Ben is on the bus, I start doing my Happy Dance. It’s then that older daughter reminds me that we have an appointment with his meds doctor this morning. No more Happy Dance.

So, to finally end this tale and this post, the (long)weekend and the forgotten appointment threw my groove off and now I have Llama Face. In the movie the Emperor gets his groove back. I’m hoping for a Disney ending for myself. Fingers crossed…
