Part 331 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

If you missed the start of this series, you can find it here. A lot of things will be the same or very similar.

After all the clouds and occasional spitting of yesterday

I was expecting a little more from sunset. But as I wrote, the clouds were moving fast, and by sunset they were mostly gone. Still… it was pretty.

It was nice to see Georgie and Gracie stop by before heading to wherever their home is. Daughter was getting frustrated with Ben’s evening hyperactivity, so I helped guide him through eating, then gave him his bath and got him into his PJs and ready to Drive Miss Daisy. We got her to work on time, came home, The Boys were settled in Ben’s room, and Daughter was texted. Onward to Stuff and Things.

Daughter texted around 10pm, telling me they’d “floated” her to a different unit. It was an “ICU step-down” unit, so she had fewer patients and since they’d just come from ICU, they were still too sick to do the needy, entitled, BS stuff she had to deal with on her unit. Plus, everyone kept telling her there was an opening and she should transfer. So, she was having an easier shift, plus getting some ego-boosting recognition from the other nurses… she was in a much better mood.

I ate my food while texting with her, took my pill and konked around 11pm. A couple of wake ups in the wee hours, then the final wakeup around 5:15am. I didn’t get up until 5:30. I could’ve dozed some more, but I like the peace of having my first cup of coffee alone. Ben and Zeus gave me until 5:50, then the chaos began.

I gathered Ben’s stuff from his room and brought it to the living room, I played tug and threw the knotted rope down the hall for Zeus, I gave Ben his meds and got him and myself ready to pick Daughter up, and I took pictures of sunrise. All between 6am and 7am.

Daughter had made a point of telling me that she would be out on time this morning, so Ben and I left ten minutes earlier than we usually do. We got there before she’d clocked out, so she decided to clock out early. We came home, fought past the whining, wiggling Dogzilla and went to our usual places… Daughter to her room to watch her shows and sleep, Ben and I to the couch.

Ben hung out on the couch with me until almost 10am, watching his tablet, eating Blue Ramen and drinking a diet Coke. Poor Ben suffered from some mysterious malady that robbed him of the use of his legs. He needed me to get him soda, more Blue Ramen, and to press Play on the DVD player since the remote is MIA. He had a miraculous recovery and was able to move to floor to do his chalk thang. After requesting a new box of chalk, Bless his heart.

Today for Paula’s Daily Lurve, I’m loving Redwood Trees. I’ve only been to see these thousand year old giant trees once, but I remember the trip vividly. Forty years later I still remember the awe, and sense of peace I felt, the quality of the light and smell of the air. It’s definitely on my list of places to go when I run away from home!

Ben continued to do his chalk thang, and I continued to do Couch Sittin Duty. He sang, he scripted, we chatted, I worked my way through part of my WP Reader… it was a pretty chill time. Oh, I also played with Dogzilla, and talked to Sven. He was having a sleepy day.

He kinda dozed with his face on the edge of his dish for a while, then went over toward his hammock, and I guess it was too much work to climb up, so he went back to dozing underneath.

Daughter got up and took over Couch Sittin Duty a little after 2pm. I took a little stroll around the backyard, then went to get Horizontal. The sky was weird… there were some big puffy clouds, but no blue behind them. Most of the sky was hazy and Meh.

It will be sky watching, Ben herding, Driving Miss Daisy PreGame Show time soon. I’m curious how the overall haze will affect sunset tonight. Of course, the way the sky has been changing so quickly lately, the haze may disappear or it might become completely overcast.

I heard this while Driving Miss Daisy this morning. A groovy blast from the past.

Save Tonight – Eagle-Eye Cherry

Both storms have moved on… the spitting clouds, weather storm, and the emotional, cold shoulder Daughter storm. Ben and I had a good morning and early afternoon, and he hung out with Daughter when she took over Couch Sittin. Daughter is working tonight, then is off work until Friday night. Hopefully tomorrow will be very much like today was, with better weather. I would LOVE that! Stop by tomorrow… I’ll share my chocolates and coffee with you. ¡Hasta mañana!

  2. I have always wanted to see the redwoods but have never been able to. It’s on my list – they look so beautiful – and I bet the video doesn’t do them justice. Daughter must feel so good to get that positive recognition! That is nice! Good for her. Here’s hoping you had a nice chill night and will have a great day ahead!

    1. Little Mr Bootyhead was awake past 11pm last night🙄🤦🏼‍♀️ He woke up full of energy but the Adderall has him yawning. It still cracks me up that amphetamines make him tired.
Daughter had a rough night last night, but she’s off til Friday, so hopefully we can all get some rest!

Are you guys feeling that crazy cold weather this weekend? I can’t believe the ice and snow in TEXAS. Crazy weather this winter everywhere! No Zoom tomorrow! WOOT WOOT!💃🏼💕✨
