#SLS ~ Oh My!

Thanks to Jim Adams, for hosting Song Lyric Sunday. In random Casa Cuckoo news, this past week has been pretty much “Rinse, Repeat”. I’m finding that three Methotrexate pills instead of five is still causing fatigue. Either that or Mondays are just exhausting days for me. I’m considering moving the day I take the Methotrexate to verify. I am a Sciencey Stuff person ya know, and an experiment may be just what is needed. In Sven news, he’s back to not eating. He’s more awake but still lethargic. I’m waiting for Younger to schedule his vet appointment. If she keeps procrastinating, I’ll just have to do it myself. She has been very stressed about money. With the way the prices are rising in SoCal, I understand. Gas is creeping up toward $5.00/gallon, and food… Oh Em Gee!! Why did my usual brand of coffee go from $7.50 to $11.00?! I went with generic store brand for $5.99 on sale. I read that those of us trying to survive on Social Security or SSDI are getting an increase, but I doubt it will match the increase in actual costs. Ugh! Sorry about that… went off on a tangent there. Back on topic, things at the Casa continue and I’m still trying to manage my time. I think I’m making some progress, but Ben is off school Thursday and Friday, so that will probably set things back. How are you guys doing? I still try to read as often as I can, but I’m very much behind, and miss some days entirely. Ah well… I’ll get there eventually.

The prompt words for this week – Lion, Tiger, Bear, Eagle, Shark

I decided to skip the obvious Tokens Lion Sleeps Tonight, and Steve Miller Band Fly Like An Eagle, and Elvis’ Teddy Bear, and the earworm from hell, Baby Sharks (you’re welcome) and did a little Goigling.

I found Ziggy Marley And The Melody Makers singing Tumblin’ Down. Of course I’m familiar with Ziggy’s dad, Bob Marley, but I didn’t know much about Ziggy or his band. I listened to, and enjoyed the song and figured we could all learn something and enjoy the music.

Tumblin’ Down was written by David Nesta Marley (aka Ziggy) and Tyrone Ralph Downie, who I couldn’t find any info on. The song is from the band’s third album, Conscious Party, which was released April 5, 1988. It went on to receive the Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 1989.

The band was formed in 1979 when Bob Marley told his kids to put together a band. He had some songs he wanted them to record, and I guess he wanted his kids to be involved in music. They were often compared to their dad, but they developed a style that was similar, but still all their own.

There wasn’t a lot of information about this song, the band, or the band members. Nothing super noteworthy. I’d guess they did their thing, played their music and lived their lives. Pretty nice, IMO.

Here comes the eagle
Here comes the bear
And they’re fighting to control
The lion dominion

But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down

Here comes synthetic food
And their big time money
And they want to control
Our body and soul

But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down

Here comes the maker
To crush the oppressor
Well I bet you didn’t know
It was mind over matter

But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down

Here comes the eagle
Here comes the bear
And they’re fighting to control
The lion dominion

But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down (Jah, Jah know)
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down (Jah, Jah know)
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down
But the load gonna come tumblin’ down

Are you a fan of Ziggy Marley And The Melody Makers, or their father and his band, Bob Marley And The Wailers, or Reggae music in general? What song would you choose? Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you next Sunday, if not sooner, Also, to my American Dudes, Enjoy your Turkey Day on Thursday and be safe. I won’t go into the politics of Thanksgiving (my ex is Native, so the Daughters are mixed)… I’m sure it’s easy to find if you’re interested.

HUGS!!

    1. Hey Sadje, sorry for the late reply… things got a little Cuckoo🤪🤷🏼‍♀️ I take all the Methotrexate on the same day. They are 2.5mg pills and I take 3 of them now, so 7.5mg once a week.
Things were a little better this week, so maybe it just took a while to adjust, and maybe it’s just my life that’s causing the fatigue to be so extreme🤷🏼‍♀️
      🤗🥰🌻🌺

      1. No worries Angie. I take 10mg once a week, but then I’m doing it for over 12 years. I think you’re fatigue has also something to do with you not getting enough rest and sleep! Sending you warm hugs. I hope this week is a good one. Take care.

  1. Poor Sven – I hope he is feeling better soon. I also have a pet with an issue and I am trying everything I can to avoid a vet bill. (The pug has a possible UTI). We just do not need that with Christmas looming right around the corner. Although, if I can’t get it fixed with my attempts from Dr. Google I guess we are going to have to go. And the food! I feel your pain there too. The shelves are so empty. Trying to meet everyone’s specific food demands sometimes takes me to three different stores and paying out the wazoo. I skip where I can or switch brands too.

Nice song! I didn’t know this one. I am not too into reggae though so I don’t listen to a ton of Marley songs – Bob or Ziggy. The song that came to my mind actually came from your prompt but I would have chosen They Might Be Giants version of The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Of course, they put their funny goofy spin on it. Anyway, take care. Have a great week! My guys have a half-day tomorrow and then are home the rest of the week. Oy vay!

    1. Ugh! Our home district takes the whole week off too. Luckily Ben’s school only takes Thurs & Fri.

How’s the pug doing?? Sven has been a little more active, but he’s still not eating. He did eat a little a couple days ago… 🙄 Younger is lagging on calling for me.

I had to go look up your song. 💃🏼🎶🥳 I like it! You always have good suggestions.

I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts this week🤞🤞 How did we ever make it thru lockdown, and now we’re back to stressing over long weekends and holidays 🤪😂😂😂💕🌻🌞

      1. I know, right? How did we survive? The older two are grounded (separate incidences) so I don’t have to be a chauffer – but I have to keep them out of my hair. Declan is starting on his Christmas crafts. Which means craft stores and more spending. Right now he is working on Candy canes made from pool noodles. We are headed out again in a little bit for more supplies. I guess it keeps him busy!

The pug is doing okay. She’s in a diaper which is a huge deterrent. I have old antibiotics that I forget to give her because I think she is all better and then I take the diaper off and boom, she went again. She’s so sad when she does it too. Sometimes I don’t even know that she went until I just look at her and her ears go back and she puts her “sorry” face on. Poor thing!

Here’s hoping for some more activity from Sven! I’ll be thinking of you at this week too!

        1. Thanks for asking🥰
He has been a little more alert and active but he’s not eating much. I don’t think he ate anything today. He was in brumation for a lot longer this time and maybe it’s taking him longer to come out of it🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m still going to get him in to see a vet, but I don’t think he’s in immediate danger, so not an emergency.
Bearded Dragons are much different from the cats and dogs I’m used to, and Sven has always been different from Younger daughter’s Beardies🙄🤦🏼‍♀️so I don’t know if he’s sick or being difficult. I don’t know if the teeth are a big problem or don’t bother him🤷🏼‍♀️ I love the little butthead and I’ll do what I can to care for him. I’ll keep everyone posted too.💕🌻🦎

  2. Never heard of Ziggy, but he is like a diluted version of his father.

Prices are increasing globally sadly. They are trying to starve us now … where the pandemic failed …

    1. Yeah, Ziggy and his siblings seem to veer more towards pop-reggae. Better than “Baby Sharks” though 😱

Lots of problems with food from drought or floods, supply lines and corporations charging more because they can🙄🤦🏼‍♀️

Hopefully things won’t get too much worse before they start getting better.🤞

      1. Well our supposed supply shortages are from a pandemic following covid.

But, l would say that whilst l can acknowledge the covid issue, there are more things to hand and that is low wages for driver, unnsatisfactory working conditions and then covid on top. Brexit has only affected supply lines because corporations seemingly never thought it was going to happen and didn’t prepare.

  3. It must be so hard to be Bob’s son. I hear that song and think ‘it’s nice, but he’s no Bob Marley”. Coffee is actually the one store staple that has caused my jaw to drop. It’s gone up by like 60%. God I hope we don’t have supply issues. If I was playing this week I’d use Bungalow Bill by the Beatles. It’s got an awesome backstory.

    1. Well now I want to know the story. I guess I’ll have to see if I can find the song too cuz I don’t think I’ve heard it.
Neither my mother or my step-dad were huge Beatles fans so I mostly know their popular songs… which is a lot of songs!
The season is over… you can write more, right?? 😉

      1. The Wikipedia write up on the song (Bungalow Bill) gives the story. There are slightly different versions on the internet too, but essentially, Lennon wrote a really derogatory song about an American he met at an Ashram.

  4. I do enjoy a bit of reggae, especially in the summer. It has that relaxed feel ideal for sunny holidays. Price rises are happening here too, especially fuel prices, which is a worry when we need to heat our houses over the winter. Look forward to hearing if your experiment makes a difference with your fatigue.

    1. It wasn’t as bad this week, and I forgot about switching the days🤪😂 I wrote the post on Friday and by Sunday when the alarm in my phone went off to remind me to take the pills, I’d forgotten 🙃
Maybe I needed a few weeks to adjust, or maybe the extra Cuckoo lately has been making the fatigue worse🤷🏼‍♀️ I didn’t have the dizziness or the feeling that my heart was beating too hard this week, but I also didn’t run a bunch of errands on Monday.
There’s always something Cuckoo going on though😂😂😂

  5. Glad to see your post.
We had my fam over the Sunday before Turkey day. It was nice outside and all 23 of us enjoyed each other and a great meal.
On Thursday, my boys and husband and I went to Sonoma and had a spa day and a nice dinner and wine. It was special cause we never get to experience this kind of day together.
Fun was had by all. Kids here have a whole week off for the Holiday. So consider yourself lucky he was home 2
    Extra days.
Life is good. Chickens are happy. Now to go out and feed them.
No new news yet on Andrew and his job.
    Hugs

    1. 23 people?!?!😲 I’m glad you enjoyed it! I couldn’t do it. Nope, too many people for me.
Our home district takes the whole week off, but Ben’s school is part of a different district so it follows their calendar. Thank goodness!! Our home district does 3 weeks for winter break too, but Ben is only off for 2.
He complains about school, but he gets bored at home. I think the longer breaks are hard on him too.
Hooray for Spa Day!!🥳💃🏼 I’ve never done one. Maybe someday 🤷🏼‍♀️

Keeping my fingers crossed for Andrew & the job🤞🤞
